Adrenal Fatigue – My Story and Recovery
My Story and Recovery from Adrenal Fatigue
Im hoping that by sharing my story with you will realize you are NOT alone and you CAN get your life back and start thriving again. Many adults in the USA get adrenal fatigue at least once in their lifetime and sadly its not diagnosed by western medicine (my personal opinion on that is because you can’t cure it with pharmaceuticals).
Health and fitness is very important to me. Ive been a personal trainer for over 12 years and I was very scared when I 1st started to have a physical breakdown. Im also a dad of two little boys, a husband and an entrepreneur who runs multiple businesses. Months of not sleeping, overworking myself and not resting properly ended with me in the hospital talking to my doctor.
My Doctor and my low point
I went to my doctor and told him what was going on. He’s a good doctor and we ran a bunch of tests. Of course they found nothing wrong and I left without answers.
Weeks went by and I was only getting worse. My ultimate low came when I went on a work / vacation, I spent $1200 to see a fitness personality I look up to give a speech. I felt so sick I had to leave 25 minutes into the seminar and ended up sitting in the hotel room and missed the entire event.
That night while I was wide awake and couldn’t sleep (and extremely exhausted) I found the word “adrenal fatigue.” That moment changed my life for the better.
I went back to my doctor explaining I had ALL the symptoms of adrenal fatigue and that I believed thats what I had. To his credit, he said “look I can’t diagnose adrenal fatigue, but you seem knowledgeable about the subject, Ive studied it and more and more of my patients are complaining of the same symptoms.” That is when I realized I needed to take control of my own health and he wasn’t going to be able to help me.
Ask for Help – Rest and Recovery
My best advice I can give to anyone dealing with adrenal fatigue is to ask for help. You can’t do everything yourself. There is nothing wrong with paying someone so that you can relax or just take some time off. Running yourself into the ground ultimately causes more life problems than simply penciling in downtime.
Relaxation is key and you MUST remove stress from your life. Nothing will help if you can’t reduce the stress. A quote that changed my life is “You get what you allow.” Always remember, You have control over your situation(s). If you need to rest, find a way to make it happen, if you can’t, pay someone to help you.
